Orthopaedic Rehabilitation

Knowing when to consider orthopedic rehabilitation….

  • If you are post-surgery and are keen to regain your physical abilities in a safe way
  • If you are looking for an effective way to manage a long-term condition such as arthritis
  • If you are looking for general pain management from an injury
  • If you are hoping to prevent having to undergo surgery
  • If you are looking to manage a sports-related injury

What is Orthopedic Rehabilitation?

This type of rehabilitation focuses on reducing the lifestyle limitations a musculoskeletal injury or condition can have on one’s life while in parallel managing and reducing the pain associated with the condition. We do this by restoring function, motion and flexibility. The musculoskeletal system is made up mainly of the muscles, bones, tendons, and ligaments. Orthopedic rehabilitation through physical therapy focuses on individual needs and abilities in order to improve the function of this system overall.

Pain plays a major role in someone suffering from a musculoskeletal injury or condition, through physical therapy we find ways to reduce and manage pain so as our patients can live a much freer and comfortable life.

In addition to pain reduction and management, we work together with our patients to eradicate the need for long term use of pain medications in managing their condition and instead use physical therapy as a way to optimize their quality of life.

While surgery is sometimes the only way to treat a condition, it is recommended that people suffering from a musculoskeletal condition first try physical therapy. In many cases, the power and benefits of physical therapy in reducing pain and helping one heal from their injury results in no surgery being required at all. In some conditions, our bodies are designed to heal themselves and physical therapy is one method that excels this healing process in a non-invasive way.

Our center has substantial experience rehabilitating patients with both simple and complex orthopedic conditions, including surgery and post-op recovery, injury recovery, general pain management as well as managing long term disorders.

Living with a musculoskeletal injury or condition can not only impair your social life but it can also have a dramatic effect on your work life, given some of the limitations your body faces doing everyday things. Climbing stairs, standing for more than two hours, grasping small objects, stooping, bending or kneeling, etc. Our team’s main aim is to treat, inform and empower our patients to return to an active and comfortable way of life again, allowing them to focus on the possibilities rather than the limitations.
